The Entertainment and especially live entertainment industry are something that many of us take for granted and we rarely opportunity to take a glimpse at the hard work and effort that goes into entertaining or giving the public a memorable show. Many of us have seen those costumed characters parading in malls, resorts and the outdoors, without ever thinking of how heavy or Hot these costumes actually are. And its all made to entertain you and your family.
So just imagine parading in 25C temperature in a 15 Kg or heavier costume for 30 minutes or more during a day. It gets hot & humid quite quickly in there plus the weight - Yes its a work-out on another level and a dangerous one if not taken care of. Now imagine the temperatures in your neighborhoods, lets say 30C or more, how can anyone endure these temperatures while in these heavy thick costumes?
Well, for every problem there is a solution, and CoolShirt Systems have mastered this with their mobile cooling systems for the entertainment industry.
By wearing the CoolShirt Systems portable units that circulates chilled water into their coolshirts allows these Mascots to safely entertain the crowds for several hours without all the adverse effects related to Heat Stress.

Would YOU wear an Cooling Vest to burn 500 extra calories a day?
- It cools the body, forcing it to generate more heat to stay warm
- Professor Hayes claims it can burn 500 extra calories a day, or 1lb a week
- That's the equivalent of a Big Mac or half a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream
- This is because it activate's the body's brown or 'healthy fat' - found on the shoulders and back - which burns calories when cold
'My wife intends to use it for post-childbirth weight loss.'
The jacket is a waistcoat which drapes gel packs of ice over the shoulders and across the back.
It is kept in the freezer so it remains chilled - and should then be worn when a person is at a comfortable temperature and not exercising.
‘If you are sitting down at rest in a room (or your car, or whatever) that is at a comfortable temperature,’ Professor Hayes told MailOnline.
‘Then wearing The Cold Shoulder directly from the freezer, and with a shirt underneath, will extract heat from your body and cause you to burn extra calories in order to stay warm.’
The vest will not work if a person is in a hot environment, or if are exercising, as it will simply keep the user cool but not force their body to burn more calories to stay warm, he warned.
He claims the jacket isn't particularly uncomfortable to wear.
'The first time you wear it, yes, it'll feel cold,' he said.
'But you won’t shiver. After trying it a few times, you’ll hardly notice you’re wearing it.'
The comfort factor is the incentive for wearing the jacket and not turning off the heating, he said.
'If you turn off your heating in winter your whole body will be cold and you'll be uncomfortable. This way you won't be uncomfortable. It's a "cheat's way" of being cold,' he told MailOnline.
The jacket works using a phenomenon known as mild cold exposure, which Professor Hayes said has long been studied by scientists.
‘Any mild cold exposure causes your body to burn extra calories, whether it’s a cold day outside, air conditioning set too high, or your skin being in contact with a cold object,’ he said.
He added: ‘Scientists have been studying the effects of mild cold exposure for decades, and it’s a well documented fact that mild cold exposure induces calorie burn.'
The shoulders and back is the most comfortable place to put the ice because that’s where the body has the fewest nerve endings, he explained.
This area is also where most of the body’s brown fat, or brown adipose tissue is found.
Adults have a small amount of this brown or ‘good’ fat in this area.
This fat is different to the white fat, which is amassed from gorging on too many calories.
Brown fat is made of several fat droplets and large numbers of iron-containing mitochondria, which – along with blood vessels – is which is what gives the fat its brownish appearance.
It burns calories to generate heat, and burns calories when a person enters mild cold.
Therefore cooling the area of the body where brown fat is found – the back and shoulders – will force brown fat to burn more calories to generate heat, Professor Hayes said.
‘On the other hand, mild cold exposure is perfectly healthy, and has been studied by scientists for decades as a way to burn calories.’
His own clinical trials, of eight people, found wearing the Cold Shoulder vest twice a day for about an hour burns up to 500 calories more per day than a person would burn without it.
However, he warns the jacket is not a panacea to weight loss - it can simply aid fat burning for people who are reducing their calorie intake.
He said: 'The vest can burn up to 500 calories per day if used as directed, but you can easily nullify the effect by eating an extra 500 calories.
'So don't expect that you can continue to eat junk food, wear the vest, and lose weight. You can't.'
And while it might seem like an extreme way to lose weight, he argues it’s no more wacky than other methods.
He said: ‘Think of all the other crazy things people do in order to try to lose excess fat. Starving themselves?
‘Eating zero-calorie clay just to feel full, which carries a risk of arsenic poising? Exhausting themselves in the gym?
Ingesting questionable supplements that, if they work at all, have side effects like insomnia or over‐stimulation?
‘How about wearing a corset just to appear thinner? Drug injections? Liposuction? Freezing fat cells? Gastro‐intestinal surgery?’
He concluded: ‘Considering these options, wearing a cool, calorie-burning vest is pretty tame in comparison.’
The jacket costs $160 and will be available in sizes XS to XXXL.

Cold Thermogenesis - lose Weight, stay Healthy and get Results!
- boost metabolism upwards of 400%
- burn calories and fat
- help build muscle
- increased insulin sensitivity
- improved exercise recovery
- boosted immune system
- injury management
- enhanced rest and relaxation
- achieve deeper sleep
- rebalance hormones, achieve primal health

Hormone levelling - Cold thermogenesis can help restore optimal hormone levels!
Adiponectin increases fat burning, may raise RMR, increases mitochondrial number and efficiency, increases insulin sensitivity, reduces systemic inflammation, reduces cardiovascular inflammation, relaxes epithelial tissue, and kills certain types of cancer cells.
The Cool Fat Burner has been shown able to increase adiponectin by a whopping 62% in only 2 hours!
The body will efficiently use food and nutrients, burning them as heat, or using them to build muscle and tissue… instead of storing them as fat or worse — allowing for increased systemmic inflammation, which may lead to disease.
INCREASE ADIPONECTIN BY 62% !!!
Adiponectin is thought to be related to everything from increased fat burning and muscular improvements, to reducing systemic inflammation, to helping fight heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and even help fight certain types of cancer!!! ***
*Results may vary from person to person, the Cooling device and website is not meant to treat or cure any disease or disorder
Irisin causes the “browning” of regular white fat into “beige fat,” lowers myostatin levels, and lengthens telomeres.
Controlled cold exposure has been shown to raise thyroid hormone, subsequently causing an increased resting metabolism.
Enhanced insulin sensitivity, maximized exercise performance, and deeper sleep may all increase growth hormone levels… allowing for ideal body repair and rejuvenation.
Enhancing your Immune System - Cold thermogenesis radically enhances and strengthens the immune system.
Glutathione, T-killer cells, lymphocytes, & a variety of immune system functions are strengthened and enhanced as one becomes cold-adapted.
“I used to always be sick, all winter, every winter. Head colds, at least 2-3 chest colds, stomach flu, over and over, every single year.Once I started doing cold thermogenesis, that changed. I practically never get sick any more. Last record-breaking winter, I did daily sessions outside, wearing next to nothing, or even wearing the CFB.My immune system was so ramped up, colds couldn’t gain a foothold. It feels like it would be nearly impossible for me to get sick when I’m fully cold-adapted.”
NOTE: boosted immune system is a hormetic response; it’s something one should slowly induce over time, as one’s systems gradually grow stronger. Do not do too much, too soon.

Cryotherapy or Mild Cooling Devices?
Cryotherapy, also called Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC), is currently being offered by clinicians as an alternative to cold water immersion or ice packs. Administered through the use of a cryogenic chamber, WBC is a treatment whereby the patient is placed in a cryogenic chamber for a short duration (i.e. no more than three minutes, which is comparable to ice swimming), and if used properly, will not destroy tissue. Whole body cryotherapy originated in Japan in 1978. However, it was a group of Polish scientists who took the idea and made whole body cryotherapy the physical therapy it is today.
The chamber is cooled, typically with liquid nitrogen, usually to a temperature of −120 °C (−184 °F)—although temperatures of −140 °C (−220 °F) or even −160 °C (−256 °F) have been used. The patient is protected from acute frostbite with socks, gloves and mouth and ear protection, but in addition to that, wears nothing but a bathing suit. The patient spends a few minutes in the chamber. During treatment the average skin temperature drops to 12 °C (54 °F), while the coldest skin temperature can be 5 °C (41 °F). The core body temperature remains unchanged during the treatment, however it may drop slightly afterwards. Therapy triggers the release of endorphins which induce analgesia (immediate pain relief).
Patients report that the experience is invigorating and improves a variety of conditions such as psychological stress, insomnia, rheumatism, muscle and joint pain, fibromyalgia, itching, and psoriasis. The immediate effect of skin cooling and analgesia lasts for 5 minutes, but the release of endorphins can have a lasting effect, where the pains and signs of inflammation as found in blood tests remain suppressed for weeks.
So why would I use Personal Cooling devices or garments that give me a constant 14-15C Cooling, if I can go to the clinic and get Cryotherapy treatment instead?
Well first of all, Cryotherapy is a lot more expensive than getting your own Personal Cooling Vest (Phase Change cooling or Liquid Circulatory Cooling undergarment). You pay once for the Personal Cooling device to provide you mild cooling and be mobile at the same time or even exercise at the same time! Cryotherapy cant offer that. Also consider this, for those who like the Cryotherapy Chambers, if you don't wear your socks, gloves, swimsuite or protective ear & face gear you can get FROSTBITE!!! That is a terrible risk to take for just 5 minutes!
Also Mild Cooling with Personal Cooling Devices/undergarments is done over a longer period of time and thus the effects last much longer and are the same.
Did I mention that personal cooling devices/products are 100% mobile, meaning that you are not constraint to a small cold chamber wearing gloves and thick socks. Its cheaper, mobile, environmentally friendly and you can use it whenever you like and not have to wait until the cryotherapy shop opens.
Why Environmentally friendly? Well think about the amount of energy required to use a cryotherapy chamber compared to a cooling vest/undergarment.
Thus everyone is left to decide for themselves what they think is the most advantageous for them. However if you need to maintain your well being, weight loss, performance, rejuvenating effects and save big bucks, then you should definitely consider getting in touch with the right people who sell the best Personal Cooling system for your needs and daily routine.
Just keep it real and stay safe.
<--- Phase Change Cooling Vests (14-15C mild cooling) athletic version
<-- Liquid (chilled water) circulatory Cooling undergarment. Both providing constant 14-15C Cooling effect.
Celebrities who can afford most things such as american actor Matt Damon uses a personal Cooling system while working. (CoolShirt Systems - circulatory cooling undergarment) This provides him with a healthy constant cooling while moving around.
Bikers do get hot and need to keep cool.
Its basically a ice water bag cooler with a pump that circulates the chilled water into the Vest or Undergarment (CoolShirt).
The bag (with the ice water + pump) is stored in the bike's saddle bag or luggage rack and can be connected to the motorcycle battery with an on/off switch or just simply used with an lithium ion battery, which can be recharged.
This will keep the Biker concentrated, cool and prevent Heat Stress related illnesses.
Always Keep Cool & Safe!
MS (Multiple Sclerosis) & Cooling Vests
Multiple sclerosis (MS), also known as disseminated sclerosis or encephalomyelitis disseminata, is an inflammatory disease in which the insulating covers of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged. This damage disrupts the ability of parts of the nervous system to communicate, resulting in a wide range of signs and symptoms,[1][2] including physical, mental,[2] and sometimes psychiatric problems.[3] - more details here.
Dr. Daniel Kantor (Florida Society of Neurology) gives us a an explanation of the use of Cooling Vests / Devices that help reduce the effects of MS in his video below:
Studies have shown that cooling the body can help lessen the negative effects of heat and improve the quality of life of people with MS.
According to a 2010 research study, Dr. George Kraft found that:
"...After body temperature had dropped about one degree... participants improved on tests of coordination, balance, and in the ability to sustain physical activity. We concluded that cooling is an appropriate therapy for people with MS heat-sensitivity." *

Keep Cool During Hot-Weather Exercise with Precooling and a Water Dump
But only when cold water was poured over their heads did the volunteers report feeling blessedly cooler than in the other exercise session. They also said that the workout felt noticeably easier, and their skin temperatures were lower than in other sessions.
That said, dumping water on your head doesn't improve performance. It simply makes the heat more tolerable so you actually finish your workout. Just remember to actually drink a bit of that water too.
Now if you use a Phase Change Cooling Vest or a Liquid Circulatory Cooling undergarment as a precooling technique, you improve your endurance in hot weather exercise by nearly 20-30 percent, because you are maintaining your core temperature. Plus the cooling of the 14-15C temperature Phase Change Cooling Vests and Liquid Circulatory undergarments actually remain for more than an hour, thus your performance increases as well in the hot weather. Not to mention you burn more calories this way too!
Another important factor to be considered is the cooling down work out, where you can utilize the cooling products to get your vitals back to norm and quickly return to a safe body core temperature.
So, keep yourself cool, fresh and safe....use your Personal Cooling system/devices to maintain a safe body core temperature at all times!

Stanford researchers' cooling glove 'better than steroids'
"Equal to or substantially better than steroids … and it's not illegal."
Now that's a statement!
The article from Stanford University continues by saying: "This is the sort of claim you see in spam email subject lines, not in discussions of mammalian thermoregulation. Even the man making the statement, Stanford biology researcher Dennis Grahn, seems bemused. "We really stumbled on this by accident," he said. "We wanted to get a model for studying heat dissipation."
Again, finally scientists have revealed (scientifically) what so many of "us" have been trying to tell the masses. Personal Cooling devices do the following:
1. Increase reaction time
2. Reduce errors while doing any physical or extraneous work or exercises
3. Reduce dehydration
4. Helping maintain a safe core body temperature - stopping Heat Stress and Heat Stress related illnesses.
5. Helps recover back to your initial vitals during Rehab time when using Personal cooling devices/systems for Athletes, Workers and most importantly Firefighters.
Below is the video from Stanford's biologists H. Craig Heller and Dennis Grahn has led to a device that rapidly cools body temperature, greatly improves exercise recovery, and could help explain why muscles get tired.
So if this isnt convincing enough and that most of the Researches world wide have been writing reports and having lectures on this exact same topic, what else will be?
Contact your local suppliers and test the Personal Cooling Devices out for yourself and get one to try them out!
Again as you might already know there are plenty of products and technologies out there that will definitely suit your needs. just ask us!

Some more information on Heat movement:
Keeping Workers Hydrated and Cool in the Heat
Risk factors for heat illness
Workers should be made aware of the many risk factors that may affect their heat tolerance. Risk factors that may influence heat illness include high air temperatures and humidity, direct sun exposure, indoor radiant heat sources (ovens, hot manufacturing processes, etc.), limited air movement, physical exertion, not drinking enough fluids (dehydration), personal protective equipment or clothing, certain medications, physical condition, lack of recent exposure (not acclimatized), and advanced age (65+). Workers should discuss their individual risk factors with their healthcare provider.
Staying hydrated
The average person has 2.6 million sweat glands. These glands are activated when a portion of the brain determines that the body needs to be cooled down. Sweat evaporates off our skin which allows for heat loss and cooling. However, when we sweat, we also lose water and electrolytes (i.e., “salts” such as sodium, chloride, potassium). Drinking enough water and having enough electrolytes is necessary for our bodies to function properly. This is why it is so important to stay hydrated; a dehydrated person is likely to start having symptoms of heat illness.
NIOSH recommends that for moderate activity in moderate conditions, each worker should drink 1 cup of water every 15 to 20 minutes. Workers should be reminded to drink water frequently before becoming thirsty in order to maintain good hydration. While some workers may prefer the taste of sports drinks, often these types of drinks are not necessary for electrolyte replacement. Workers that eat regular meals and salt-containing snacks will usually be able to replace electrolytes lost during sweating.
In addition to providing plenty of water in convenient locations close to the work site, employers can provide urine color charts near toilet facilities. These charts show the urine colors of a hydrated person compared to a dehydrated person. The darker the urine, the more likely your body is dehydrated.
Keeping cool
Even when the body is at rest, we are internally producing heat through metabolism (breaking down the food we eat into energy). However, during physical exertion, working muscle produces heat at a much higher, faster rate. This increased heat production can result in an increase in body temperature, which above a certain temperature, can be difficult to control. Therefore, it is important to develop ways to cool down the body to help maintain core temperature and reduce the negative effects of thermal stress.
Workers should be allowed to take regular rest breaks. Breaks should be held in a shaded or air conditioned area. Employers and supervisors should be monitoring weather reports daily, and if possible, jobs with high heat exposure should be rescheduled to cooler times of the day. The use of reflective clothing, water-dampened cotton clothing (although this may not work when the humidity is very high), and cooling vests with pockets for cold packs may also be beneficial for keeping workers not only cooler for longer periods of time, but also safer.
Myths about heat stress
There are many misconceptions about heat stress, heat illnesses, and what a person should do when they are required to work hard in a hot environment. The following examples are a few of the myths and common misunderstandings about heat stress and heat illnesses.
MYTH: The difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke is there is no sweating with heat stroke.
Exertional heat stroke victims may continue to produce sweat [Dept. of the Army and Air Force Technical Bulletin 2003; Armstrong et al. 2007; Navy Environmental Health center 2007]. If a worker is experiencing symptoms of heat stroke (confusion, loss of consciousness, seizures, high body temperature), whether they are sweating or not, it is a life-threatening emergency! Call the emergency services and try to cool the worker down.
MYTH: Taking a break in the air conditioning will ruin your acclimatization.
Acclimatization can usually be maintained for a few days of non-heat exposure, so taking a break in the air conditioning will not reduce a worker’s level of acclimatization. And it is a very effective way for workers to cool down in a fairly short period of time.
MYTH: Acclimatization will protect you during a heat wave.
Acclimatization occurs when a person is exposed to extreme environmental conditions over a 7-10 day period. However, during heat waves air temperatures rise above normal quickly, and workers will not be able to immediately acclimatize to the new, hotter temperatures. During heat waves, workers will need more breaks and rescheduling some of the harder and hotter job tasks may be warranted.
MYTH: Salt tablets are a great way to restore electrolytes lost during sweating.
Salt tablets should never be used unless a worker is instructed to do so by their doctor. Most people are able to restore electrolytes through normal meals and snacks. Workers should drink plenty of water with their meals and snacks, not only to stay hydrated but also to aid digestion. Moreover, ingestion of too much salt may cause nausea and vomiting which can worsen the level dehydration already present.
MYTH: My medications/health condition will not affect my ability to work safely in the heat.
A worker’s health and medication usage may affect how their body handles high temperatures and heavy physical exertion. Some health problems that may put a worker at a greater heat illness risk include: obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and even common colds and the flu—especially if the illness is accompanied by a fever and vomiting. Certain medications may affect the body’s ability to cool down or may cause the body to heat up more quickly. Examples of medications that increase risk are diuretics, antihypertensives, and anticholinergics. Workers with health conditions or who are taking medications should discuss with their physicians about how they may be at additional risk if working in a hot environment.
Mild Cooling is GOOD for you!
There are Health and Therapy benefits for the use of various types of Cooling Vests. That has been proven and lots of research has been made that "mild cooling" approximately 14-15C cooling is used for the treatment of and for Multiple Sclerosis, Breast Cancer, Ectodermal Dysplasias, Thermogenic Anhidrosis and people who have Diabetes.
There are a host of benefits from frequent cold exposure done the right way, such as:
- Lowering body fat
- Increasing hormone levels
- Improving sexual performance and fertility
- Lowering blood sugar
- Cutting food cravings
- Improving adrenal function
- Fixing thyroid issues
- Enhancing immune function
- Improving deep sleep quality
- Increasing pain tolerance
- Reducing inflammation
So why does cold exposure achieve some of these benefits? Here how:
BAT Activation
Brown adipose tissue, or BAT, is primarily found around your collar bones, sternum, neck, and upper back. It is a unique kind of fat that can generate heat by burning the regular white fat (adipose tissue) found on a your stomach, butt, hips, and legs.
Researchers find that brown fat is an anti-diabetes organ
Not all fat is created equal, and that is good news for millions fighting diabetes. In a study of the metabolic role of brown fat diabetes researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston showed that people with more brown fat are able to maintain control over their blood sugar and increase their resting metabolic rate.
How did they do it? The study, led by Dr. Labros Sidossis, included adult male subjects who were divided into two groups: one group had brown fat present at the start of the study and the other did not. All subjects wore a cooling vest for several hours at a mild cold temperature that would stimulate brown fat and not cause a shivering response.
The results showed that active brown fat plays an important role in metabolism of glucose. People in the study who had stores of brown fat that were activated by the cooling vest were better able to metabolize glucose and had increased insulin sensitivity. The abstract of the study states:
“These results demonstrate a physiologically significant role of BAT in whole-body energy expenditure, glucose homeostasis, and insulin sensitivity in humans and support the notion that BAT may function as an anti-diabetic tissue in humans.”
Researchers found that mild cold exposure increased the base metabolic rate of the brown fat positive group by 15%. Very significant reductions in blood glucose were seen in the individuals with cold stimulated brown fat. Cooling is acknowledged as the best know way to stimulate brown fat, but researchers are mainly focused on finding a drug as a treatment for obesity and diabetes. Cooling vests with phase change cooling packs to activate brown adipose tissue may provide the best solution.

Multiple Sclerosis
MS symptoms become worse when the body's temperature increases - even half of a degree is enough to start feeling worse. By cooling the body, many people experience relief from their MS symptoms. Cooling products can also help people with MS be more active through exercise and outdoor activities. Phase Change Cooling Vests are the most popular means of cooling the body.
Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer patients and survivors alike often experience accelerated menopause symptoms, including hot flashes and night sweats. A special pink Cool Vest is just the answer for you to keep cool while promoting Breast Cancer Awareness.
Ectodermal Dysplasias
Within the 150 different ectodermal dysplasia (ED) syndromes, the inability to perspire is a feature of many of the conditions. Since people who are unable to perspire can overheat, precautions should be taken to prevent over-heating or to cool the body if necessary.
Thermogenic Anhidrosis
One type of failure of the sweating mechanism which does not conform to that of either heat stroke or heat exhaustion is sometimes called Thermogenic Anhidrosis. The symptoms are sometimes associated with, or preceded by a period of excessive sweating and usually, some degree of prickly heat; then a cessation of sweating over the entire body below the neck, with an outpouring of sweat from the face and neck. As with any physical condition, seek the advice of a medical professional.

Is 15 degree Celsius cooling Healthy?
Well the most common discussions I have with athletes and industry professionals alike, is the question of weather a cooling vest is healthy or not? Or are there any side effects? Will I get the Flu? etc..
Let me answer this with the following practical and scientific points:
1. Cooling vests, jackets, etc are good for you unless you are crazy enough to wear them in the cold weather.
2. They should be used primary to maintain a safe body core temperature, ultimately preventing heat stress and related illnesses such as dizziness, extreme fatigue, muscle cramps, etc.
3. And yes they are good for you! Ever wondered why people do Cryotherapy? here is an article from Gulf News about the benefits of using Cryotherapy . Cooling shirts and vests cool you at 15C which has recently been tested & researched is actually very GOOD for your Health. See the excerpt from the Harvard University Medical School report:
Burns BAT & Treatment of Obesity: Nov. 4, 2013 - VISTA, CAL. USA -- Cooling the body down, rather than building up a sweat, could be an effective way of losing weight, a new research from Harvard University revealed.
The Scientists concluded that brown fat, a “good” fat that burns calories, is activated by the cold. Brown Fat is found naturally in humans and consumes calories to generate heat. The activation of this tissue through cool temperatures is known as non-shivering thermogenesis and could be the key in the fight against obesity.
The team at the Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard University was successfully able to activate brown fat with a 14°C Cooling Vest. They had also tested the effects of the over the counter weight loss drug Ephedrine but found it was not activating the tissue. Lead researcher Dr. Aaron Cypess said that “this was the first time a study revealed that ephedrine does not turn on brown fat”.
Dr. Cypess said harnessing the cold effects could help reduce calories without the side effects associated with ephedrine.
“Mild cold exposure stimulates (brown fat) energy expenditure with fewer other systemic effects, suggesting that cold activates specific sympathetic pathways,” he said.
Dr. Cypess would conclude the article by saying one method to stimulate brown adipose tissue as we did in the study would be to design a cooling vest that people can wear to help them lose weight.
Dr. André Carpentier, an endocrinologist at the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec said, the brown fat burned about 250 calories over three hours when the subjects were chilled, but not to the point of shivering (University of Sherbrooke - Journal of Clinical Investigation)
